About

The STRAY CATS, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early '80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950's style brought "up to date" with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly's original heyday. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer, upright bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979, the trio shared a love for Rockabilly music. After banging around New York for a few months, in the summer of 1980, and seeing a pompadoured kid on the cover of UK magazine NME, they hopped a plane to London where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge. Their massive hits and videos include "Runaway Boys," "Rock This Town," "Stray Cat Strut" "(She's) Sexy + 17," and "I Won't Stand in Your Way."

    They Still Have It!

by Ray on 9/3/26Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic City

I wasn't sure what to expect for the Stray Cats concert. With many older artists performing live it's a bit of a mixed bag on whether they will sound good or not. Well let me tell you I was not disappointed! Brian Setzer and the rest of the band sounded awesome! HIs vocals have still held up after all these years and trust me even though they are a little older than me they displayed exuberant energy way beyond their years. The setlist was perfect mixing their classic hits as well as a few tribute songs from other artists. I absolutely would see them again live and highly recommend anyone else that has an opportunity to go see them play. You won't be disappointed!

If you go to a Stray Cats show, close your eyes and you are brought back to 1985. They have not lost their sound. Best venue to see them at.

Stray Cats were entertaining rocking band.

by Muggles76 on 8/18/26The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber Heights

I am not a huge Stray Cats fan. I know their hits from when I was in single digits. I had the opportunity to see them and I enjoy rockabilly, so I went. I was amazed by the energy they brought to the stage for being "oldie"rockers. They didn't play She's Sexy and 17 for some unknown reason, maybe not aging well.

    Stray Cats Forever

by Tat2Lady on 8/18/26Flagstar at Westbury Music Fair - Westbury

I have been seeing The Stray Cats live since I was a teenager. This show was phenomenal! They have all done solo stuff but nothing compares to the magic of putting these three together. Add to the mix making it a sold out show in their "hometown"(close, enough) and these boys sure do shine!!
