Dallas Stars History

The Dallas Stars began play in 1967 as the Minnesota North Stars, earning two trips to the Stanley Cup Final. They relocated to Dallas after the 1992-1993 season and dropped "North" from their name.

The team immediately brought a winning tradition to Dallas, making the playoffs four of its first five seasons. Then came the back-to-back seasons that Stars fans will remember forever. In 1998-1999, sparked by center Mike Modano (the franchise's all-time leading scorer), off-season addition Brett Hull, and goaltender Ed Belfour, the Stars swept through the playoffs to defeat the Buffalo Sabres and clinch their first Stanley Cup Championship. The following season, the Stars again made the Stanley Cup Final, but lost to the New Jersey Devils in six games.

The Stars made it to the playoffs six more times over the next seven seasons, and went on to clinch additional playoff berths in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. They made it to the Final again in 2020, but lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game Six.

Since their arrival in 1993, the Stars have become one of the most successful sports franchises in Dallas, making 20 postseason appearances and capturing nine division championships and two Presidents' Trophies.

    It was an excellent game.

by Charles on 4/10/26American Airlines Center - Dallas

It was an excellent game. I really enjoyed myself. The wheelchair ramp seats were perfect and made it easier for me to use my cane and brace. Thank you so much for everything; I’m looking forward to next season.

Very pleasant stadium, coming from an Avs fan!

by Veronica on 4/8/26American Airlines Center - Dallas

The music they played was great, the snacks and merch were very easily accessible, and the stadium staff were all so nice despite me being a fan of the other team! We joked around and such, definitely didn’t make me feel left out in the slightest.

    Obstructed View -Section 205

by Grits on 4/7/26American Airlines Center - Dallas

Section 205 Row H Seat 1 Is an obstructed view seat, could not see the goal on my end. Wished it had been communicated to me in advance, would of paid more attention because the seats weren't cheap.

    Excellent

by Kat from Carrollton on 4/5/26American Airlines Center - Dallas

4-2-26 game. Great experience. First time for me. I use a cane and everyone I had contact with were just super. Took Dart to Victory Station, easy walk to AAC, elevator to my seat and the way back. From crossing the street, folks with signs offering to help at entrance, security, and more helping sign folks offering kind directions once inside, made this so doable and enjoyable. The stadium is so clean, easy to get around, and the view from the 300 tiered sections, with comfortable seats and good leg room, were perfect for the game. Negative for me, I’m 75, was the high volume of the announcer’s voice. But not the volume of music or the crowd, that was just right and fun.

    Great experience

by Keith A on 4/5/26American Airlines Center - Dallas

Took my son to our first ever Dallas Stars hockey game! We parked in the purple garage, which was very easy to park even for my larger three-quarter ton truck, which was a concern of mine. It was an easy walk to the American Airlines Center. Once there, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and they were easily able to direct us to our seats and to food and drinks. There was a large variety of drinks and foods at the venue. The game atmosphere was also outstanding. I felt the crowd was very pleasant and all seemed very happy to be there and participated with all of the different activities and music which made the experience all the more enjoyable. It also didn’t hurt to the Stars won! ha ha We will definitely be going back for another game in the near future.

    Enjoyable

    by GMan73 on 3/29/26

Attended our first ever NHL game (Wings vs Stars) and absolutely loved it! Thought the view might be bad since almost at the top of the stadium but if the nosebleed seats are this good, there probably isn’t a bad seat in the house. As a Wings fan, I must say that even though the result wasn’t what I wanted, Stars fans in general we very amicable and respectful. Planning 2-4 visits next season now.
